How to prepare for IIT/PMT?
In India, most of the students, there are many students who appear in the number of entrance examinations for engineering, medicals and may more. After their secondary examinations (Class X), they starts dreaming of big things and choose their career accordingly but before that there must be proper guidance for these students who aims so high. You could see that there are many students who has so many questions about IIT/ PMT. They just join it hearing their friends and relatives and can't prepare more but now no need to panic. Through IIT/ PMT, one can learn more as they are committed to create quality professionals to meet the emerging industrial and social needs through their innovative teaching, applied research, industrial interaction, placing faith in human values and aiming at continual improvement in all activities.
From my personal experience, I would suggest before anything else you should do intensive self-study and hard work to crack the IIT-JEE. Yes, of course, a good coaching can be helpful, no doubt but let you know that NCERT books are very helpful and many teachers also, almost each and every teacher recommend this book first. I would just say concentrate on this book and finish the basic NCERT level syllabus first and then you should join a coaching in 12th class after having finished the entire Senior secondary courses i.e.Class 11 and 12 NCERT level syllabus in the 11th class itself. And then definitely, you join. It will be very helpful. Even if you ask any expert, they will suggest you the same to you. If you do this, your hard work will always be rewarded with great success.
There are several good magazine also at the stall which are very helpful in IIT-JEE preparation. Some of the books includes Mathematics Today, Chemistry Today, Physics for you published by MTG Learning Media, New Delhi. These books are very helpful and makes your tasks more easy. So do try it but do not forget NCERT books. It is very good for basic concept building. So initially students should simply concentrate on their basic NCERT syllabus and then they should practice MCQ problem solvingfrom any popular private publication books such as Pradeep, Dinesh, etc. It will help a lot and then feel relaxed. Also try to keep revising what you have studied at regular intervals.
Just one more thing which is very important that always remember the basic concepts, it is forever which makes your preparation very easy. After completing NCERT book go for the self assessment by solving few sample papers of IIT/PMT published regularly in different competition magazines and you can also use some good guide book to solve plenty of questions from each chapter in each subject to assess your level of knowledge and acquired problem-solving-skills in different chapters.
As you are so regular to problem solving practice and you are done with the entire syllabus so at the coaching, it will be very easy to grasp things easily as you won't feel any problem in understanding complicated numericals that are generally discussed in a coaching class and this way the problem solving skills will also be further sharpened.
Lastly, stay calm, relax and start your preparation from your NCERT book and then see the difference. All the best!!
